Chicago Dream Team
Building Leaders on Two Wheels
Our Mission and Vision
The Chicago Dream Team (CDT) is dedicated to empowering African American youth in Chicago through the transformative power of cycling. Our mission is to instill discipline, resilience, and leadership skills in young individuals aged 11–18, primarily from the South Shore and other South Side communities. By combining weekly training rides, mentoring, and life skills education, we aim to build confidence and prepare our participants for success in school and life. Our ultimate goal is to guide them in completing century rides, including the prestigious Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG). Safety and community are at the heart of our program, with trained mentors ensuring a supportive environment for all.
Guiding Principles of the Chicago Dream Team
At the core of the Chicago Dream Team are values that drive our mission and shape our programs. We believe in the power of discipline, teaching our youth to set goals and work diligently towards them. Resilience is cultivated through challenging rides and overcoming obstacles, preparing them for life’s hurdles. Leadership is fostered by encouraging youth to take initiative and support their peers, creating a strong community bond. Our commitment to safety ensures that every ride is conducted with the utmost care, guided by trained and certified mentors. Together, these values empower our youth to become confident, capable leaders both on and off the bike.

Anthony Crawford is a founding member of Chicago Dream Team and has been riding bicycles for over five decades. Introduced to cycling at age six, he brings a lifelong commitment to endurance, preparation, and discipline, viewing long-distance riding as both physical training and personal practice.
An avid cyclist and motorcyclist, Anthony is a strong advocate for safety, skills development, and rider education. His experience across both cycling and motorcycling informs CDT’s emphasis on training, situational awareness, and responsible riding. As a founding member alongside Jose Wilson and Genora Stone, he supports CDT’s mission by helping shape its values, planning efforts, and community presence through historically significant and community-based rides.
What We Are Building
Chicago Dream Team is building a structured youth cycling program rooted in discipline, endurance, safety, and community leadership.
Through historically significant rides, local community appearances, and intentional partnerships, CDT is laying the foundation for mentoring, training, and civic engagement opportunities that extend beyond the bike.
As the organization grows, CDT will continue to focus on preparation, accountability, and experiences that help young riders develop confidence both on and off the road.
